Instagram Personal Interest Project

Date

Spring 2023

Location

Gainesville, FL

This is a Personal Interest Project for a Social Media Certificate as part of the master's degree in mass communications with a focus on public interest communications at the University of Florida College of Journalism and Mass Communications.

The page is dedicated to improving the lives of homeless, community cats. It's an educations page to teach and show students and people from the general public on how to reduce the number of unwanted kittens by a humane process called Trap, Neuter, Return (TNR). With TNR programs cats are humanely trapped, they are taken to a local TNR program where the cats undergo a health check, are vaccinated, and are either spayed if female or neutered if male.

The cat is then taken by you (or the person who trapped the cat) back to the place where it was trapped and then released. Cats and kittens that "graduate" from this program have their left ear tipped to identify them.

This page is also dedicated to all the cats that live on college campuses in Florida (and elsewhere, too).
